Next, you'll need the Google Home app on your smartphone or tablet. You can download the app from the Google Play Store here, and iOS users can get it here. As the Chromecast is a basic device, you will need this app to control the Chromecast and to get started.

You will also need a Google account that you can access. When you first install the Google Home app on your smartphone or tablet, you'll see a prompt asking you to sign in to your account. You can create a free Google account here if you don't already have one.

How to set up a Chromecast device

Now that we've gathered everything we need to complete the setup, it's time to get started. As we mentioned earlier, the process is quite easy to perform. Here's how :

1. Plug your Chromecast into your TV's HDMI port. Then, plug the power cable into a wall outlet.
2. Use the Input button to switch your TV to the HDMI port you plugged your Chromecast device into.
3. If you have the Chromecast with remote, your Chromecast remote should start pairing automatically. If not, select Start pairing to continue. Next, hold the Back button and Home button so that the LED indicator light appears on the remote.
4. Once paired, select the language you wish to use.
5. Open the Google Home app on your smartphone. Sign in to your Google account if you haven't already.
6. Tap Set up Chromecast. Or, tap on the '+' icon in the upper left corner. Then tap on Set up Chromecast.
