© Onur Binay / UnsplashThe weeks go by and bring us closer and closer to the launch of the iPhone 13, the future flagship of the Apple brand. And as the presentation approaches, rumours also become more precise. Here we learn a little more on the screen that should be available to at least a variant of the iPhone 13.
All previous leaks agreed on one point: apple should finally offer a refresh rate of 120 Hz for its iPhone. However, not all models will be affected by this innovation. At the latest, only the "Pro" models would benefit from an OLED LTPO slab. This would be provided by Samsung, and has the peculiarity that it can automatically adjust its refresh frequency according to the content displayed, up to 120 Hz.
This type of slab-found on the Galaxy S21 ultra, for example-would offer other advantages. According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, this screen would allow the iPhone equipped to offer the "always-on" function, the ability to keep its screen on in all circumstances.
An alway screen on "at least one" iPhone 13
This feature is not really new in the Android world, where most high-end smartphones now offer always-on mode. Nevertheless, it would be a first for the iPhone … But not Apple. The Apple Watch offers this screen technology and a permanent display from Serie 5.
Gurman pointed out, however, that this novelty should not be present on all iPhone 13 models. According to Gurman, "at least one" iPhone 13 model should take advantage of it. Apple could again reserve this novelty to its highest (and largest) model, the iPhone 13 Pro Max. This would not be so surprising as the iPhone 12 Pro Max, for example, benefited from different photo sensors from its younger brothers.
We still have to wait until September and the traditional presentation conference of the new iPhone to confirm or not these features.
