We had been knowing for some time that Microsoft was working on a "entirely dark" mode for Word, and now the software giant announces this visual update for members of the Insider program.
In other words, if you are part of the Office Insider program, you can now try the new dark mode in Microsoft Word after having updated to the latest version of the productivity suite.
The activation of this new look is very simple, since it is enough to activate the theme Office "Noir" in Microsoft Word and click on the "Change mode" button in the ribbon to replace the traditional white canvas with a canvasdark.
Currently, Word has a dark mode that modifies the ribbon and the toolbars, but the canvas remains white and bright. This future Word update will also pass the canvas in dark mode.
"As we spend long hours with our screens, it has become more and more important to reduce eye fatigue and adapt to light sensitivity. This is why we extended the black theme Office to also include your Document Canvas. This is a feature that many people have been asking us for a long time and we are delighted to offer them, "said Ali Forelli, program manager in the Word team in Microsoft.
Only for insiders
If the canvas changes, the colors of a document are also adjusted. The reds, blue, yellow and other bright colors will be "slightly modified to alleviate the overall effect of the color palette" and will harmonize with the dark bottom. If you just want to keep the canvas white, just get to the screen settings in Microsoft Word and uncheck the dark mode.
Keep in mind that this feature is currently being tested and that Microsoft indicates that there is no release date as of the time it could be made available to all those who use Microsoft Word.
