After a year of daily use of the Oppo Find X2 Pro, it's time to take stock of the smartphone in a long -term test

Almost a year ago, I tested what was then the latest high -end OPPO smartphone, Find X2 Pro.Eleven months later, the Chinese manufacturer has already launched its successor, the Oppo Find X3 Pro.It is therefore time to take stock after a year of using the Oppo Find X2 Pro.
To go further which smartphone Oppo to choose in 2022?
It won't be a surprise for anyone, I liked the Oppo Find X2 Pro I liked.A lot.During his initial test, published in May 2020, I had argued the note of 9/10, greeting his perfect balance between performance, autonomy, photo quality and careful software interface.Seven months later, we also name the best smartphone of the year 2020.Admittedly, other high -end models have been there and did not have to demerit, such as the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, the OnePlus 8T or the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro.But none managed to keep this balance and above all, this absence of major defects.
Some faults, but easily forgettable
Inevitably, after a year of use, I had the opportunity to taste the Find X2 Pro up to the smallest detail and a year later, even after testing other smartphones for a week, it's always with pleasurethat I put my SIM card again in the Oppo model.
Defects, the Oppo Find X2 Pro has a few and as much to quote them immediately before moving on to the many qualities of the smartphone.First, as I indicated in my initial test, the smartphone is not compatible with the wireless load. This is particularly a shame for a phone whose launch price was 1200 euros.Oppo seems to have heard the criticism and now offers functionality on his Find X3 Pro.In ultra-wide-angle photos, even if they are much more pleasant than in many competing models, we can also regret a tendency of the device to saturate the colors, sometimes making the shots at the limit of realism. Finally, the smartphone may have trouble managing the colors displayed on the screen, particularly in low light. This point marked me after several months of use.In fact, we observe a wide difference in the transcription of colors depending on whether the screen displays maximum brightness, in broad daylight, or very low light, in full darkness.

These underlined points, as much to say it immediately, they are very little disturbing on a daily basis, especially for the use I had of the smartphone.
A quick charge always as pleasant
First of all, one of the most interesting points of any long -term test is monitoring the autonomy of the smartphone. And on this aspect, my expectations were not disappointed.Admittedly, Oppo's phone only offers a 4260 mAh battery, rather low given the market standards in 2021.But already last year, I expected that the fast load would largely compensate for this little gap.And this is the case.In a year, he had to get me, less than a dozen covers, to run out of battery in the middle or at the end of the afternoon. But each time, I was able to count on the fast load of 65 W to fully recharge the accumulator in less than 40 minutes. After a year of use, it is very simple: this load speed has become just as essential as the 120 Hz refresh rate on the screen.Once you've touched it, it's hard to go back.

Furthermore, I do not have the special impression of having seen the autonomy of the smartphone drop drastically after these eleven months, despite the fact that I continue to load it every night. The fast load therefore does not seem to have drastically reduced the battery capacity and I can always use the Find X2 Pro with four to five hours on each day.And when I fall into a battery harbor, ten minutes on the charger are enough to regain almost 40 % battery.Admittedly, the various confinements and fire cover helped, since I was never far from a wall outlet, but this is a serious helping hand given to the battery of the smartphone of the smartphone.
Software updates
Regarding updates too, Oppo has traveled from the way since the release of Find X2 Pro last year.As a reminder, the smartphone was released under Coloros 7.1 based on Android 10, with the April 2020 safety patch. When writing these lines, he now joined Coloros 11, based on Android 11, with the April 2021 safety patch.Suffice to say that we have a software follow -up here.
The various updates also made it possible to refine the user experience and the software interface of the Find X2 Pro.Already last year, I welcomed Oppo's progress in this area and, a year later, it is clear that progress continued to.Today, Coloros is one of the best Android interfaces on the market, both clear and very rich in personalization. We can in particular personalize the shape of the icons as you wish or modify the system of accentuation of the system.
Finally, for the software aspect, the only disappointment I would have concerned the absence of Google Discover on the Home screen. In recent months, Oppo has decided to join the Google content recommendation service to the left of the home screen, in place of the Find X2 PRO Assistant.Nevertheless, as this choice is made at the time of the design of the smartphone and the certification by Google, the Find X2 Pro could not take advantage of it and I must keep an assistant who has an intelligent only the name.

No need to procrastinate on the performances always in the hair of the Snapdragon 865: even a year after its release, the chip always allows fluid and without hook use, including by setting the screen in QHD+ with a 120 Hz refresh rate. Now is the time to approach the photo experience of the Find X2 Pro.And if I was able to be picky on the ultra-angle module, the other two cameras have deeply convinced me.
A telephoto always very appreciable
As a reminder, the smartphone is equipped with a 48 megapixel main module, a telephoto lens with X5 optical zoom associated with a 13-megapixel sensor and an ultra-angle 48-megapixel module also used for macro mode.Like what, we do not need a dedicated macro lens when we offer an ultra-wide-efficient optical optics.
Suffice to say that with this versatility in photo, I have fun for a year, despite the different confinements.I was able to take photos with various focal ranges, play with the background of the subjects by zooming, photograph the moon over a fireplace, take a picture of starry skies or engrave in posterity my figurine paintings.
Above all, the Oppo Find X2 Pro gave me a taste for telephoto lens. The X5 optical zoom and the hybrid x10 zoom of the smartphone really make it possible to highlight not only the subject of a photo, but also the elements in the background. On a 25 or 50 mm focal length as you can have with the classic camera or the X2 zoom, difficult to have a clear background, since the elements will appear as very small. With an X5 or X10 zoom, we have more freedom to compose a photo by highlighting the subject and the frame, provided you take a step back.
This is this point that I still like so much on the Find X2 Pro.A point that OPPO unfortunately passed the hatch on its successor, the Oppo Find X3 Pro.The last born of the Chinese manufacturer indeed sacrifices the long focal lens in favor of a microscopic objective which is very funny, but which I doubt that it serves as much in the long term.
