You want to separate from your smartphone but do not know what to do with these hundreds of photos, videos, messages, applications stored for years? For the sake of confidentiality and security, it is important to take the time to erase all of your data or even reset it before reselling, giving away or throwing away your mobile. This is called the factory setting. Here are the steps to follow.

Delete data on iOS

If you have an Apple-branded device, just go to the settings, then to the "General" section. Then go to the "Reset" option, before clicking on "Erase content and settings". The following message may then appear: "Do you want to update your iCloud backup before erasing the device?". Tap "Backup then Erase" if you want to keep your data on your iCloud account. Be careful, if you choose the "Erase Now" option, you may lose all photos and other data that have not yet been backed up to your iCloud account. So it is better to back up before deleting.

Delete data on Android

The operation is just as simple on a Samsung, LG, HTC, Google or Huawei smartphone. Go to the settings (sometimes then to "Other settings") of your mobile before clicking on "System" then on "Reset options" (on some smartphones directly in "Backup and reset"). Then go to "Erase all data (factory reset)". You just have to check the option "Erase internal storage" and finally "Erase all data".
