Huawei has its own app store, AppGallery, and it appears to have harbored a Trojan in 190 of its games, which suggests a desire to trap a rather young audience. In total, these games have been downloaded more than 9 million times. To play it, users were forced to give certain permissions to the app, including access to call features.

Specifically, Doctor Web has analyzed this Trojan as being capable of recovering users' personal data, such as network settings or location, and accessing their contacts. Experts immediately alerted Huawei, which took action and deleted the games in question. Even if these applications are no longer downloadable, there is no guarantee that the malware will disappear from infected smartphones.

Not the first time

Already last April, the AppGallery had been hit by a Trojan horse but it also seized the victims' banking data, which is not the case this time.

Huawei responded to the matter by saying, “The AppGallery's built-in security system allowed for early detection of potential risk within certain apps. We are actively working with affected developers to resolve this issue. As soon as we determine that these apps are completely safe, they will be listed again on the AppGallery so users can download their favorite apps.
