Huawei has found a way out of the US embargo that prevents it from sourcing from Google and US component suppliers: bringing out older, slightly updated models. Huawei contourne l'embargo américain grâce à d'anciens smartphones | iGeneration

Last week, the Trump administration extended for another year the ban on American companies from doing business with Chinese telecommunications groups, at the forefront of which are ZTE and Huawei.

Deprived of Google services for its smartphones, Huawei has developed its own collection of applications and its in-house EMUI 10.1 system. But they can't match Google's originals in overseas markets.

The manufacturer has found the trick, it appears from the smartphones launched a year ago, before the entry into force of the American decree, and which can be equipped with Android and the usual apps.

The "P30 Lite" of 2019 has returned under the name of "P30 Lite New Edition" and the "P30 Pro" is starting to arrive in Europe (Germany and the United Kingdom in particular) under the name of "P30 Pro New Edition". These new versions take the opportunity to inflate their RAM and storage endowment, they have the latest version of Android (10 instead of 9), a new color to mark the occasion and prices are lowered.

With only one year of seniority, these telephones remain in the blow and their tariffs make them attractive. But Huawei's range is inevitably turned upside down in an unprecedented way. The creme de la creme, namely the P40 range, is sold without Google apps and services while the best of Google is only offered on 2019 phones.
