The Chinese manufacturer Huawei recently formalized the upcoming release of the P50 and P50 Pro in China, without details for the rest of the world.
Without 5G and without Google – again because of US sanctions – but with great technical data sheets, Huawei's next two flagships are scheduled for release from August, several months after the usual dates.

If there is one point that can prevent Huawei's new smartphones from finding their place outside the Chinese market, it is obviously the company's ban on using Google services, and in the first place Android . Still sanctioned by the decision of the former President of the United States, Donald Trump, the Chinese brand continues to survive without the American giant and will therefore have to rely on its in-house operating system, HarmonyOS.
The two smartphones, the P50 and P50 Pro, will also be able to take advantage of the Snapdragon 888, the latest high-end mobile processor. But this is only the case for certain models, since Huawei has also chosen to decline the P50 Pro in a version using the Huawei Kirin 9000 processor.

For the rest of the features, the two models P50 and P50 Pro offer some differences. The Pro version of the smartphone obviously has some slightly more interesting features; this is the case for example of the screen. If the first model benefits from a 6.5-inch screen in 1224p and clocked at 90 Hz, the second is entitled to something a little better, with a diagonal of 6.6 inches, a resolution of 1226p and above all a 120 Hz cadence.

Both models, however, benefit from fast wired charging at 66W. In terms of power and storage differences, the P50 sees its RAM capped at 8 GB, with 128 or 256 GB of storage, while the P50 Pro is available in 8 or 12 GB of RAM, its storage ranging from 128 to 512 GB.

The P50 and P50 Pro are, like many other smartphones in our time, the pride of the photo. The smallest model has three lenses: the main 50MP, a 12MP telephoto lens with x5 optical zoom (up to x50 in digital) and, finally, a 13MP ultra-wide. The Pro meanwhile has an additional lens: the main and the ultra-wide do not change, but the telephoto lens rises here to 64MP with an x3.5 optical zoom (allowing to go up to x100 in digital). The main difference with the P50 is the addition of a 40MP monochrome lens. Both are entitled to a 13MP front camera.

For the Snapdragon versions, it will be necessary to wait until September for the P50 and the end of the year for the P50 Pro model. Prices vary, depending on the version, between approximately $700 and $930. We have no information about a release in France for the time being.
