A Norwegian university conducted a study around the unlocking model, which has been present on Android for several years. The first results are alarming. Here is an observation, as well as some tips to better create your unlocking pattern.
For years, all the experts have been encouraging us to use slightly more advanced passwords. On Android, we have several methods to secure the unlocking of our terminal: the digicode (PIN code, if you want), the password, the fingerprint (recently) and the unlock pattern. The latter interests us, it consists of creating a diagram with your finger, between different points. Marte Loge of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology analyzed 4,000 models for her master's thesis and found that 77 percent of participants started from one of the four corners, and 44 percent started their patterns at the top left. Moreover, the vast majority of users only use four nodes, which amounts to using an alphanumeric password with few characters.
Very simple combinations… Is yours there?
How to choose a better combination?
With only four nodes, the number of combinations is very small, only 1624. With five nodes, we obtain 7162 combinations, the ideal would be to have at least minus 6. Know that with eight or nine nodes, we find exactly the same number of possible combinations (140704). I advise you to break the points into "numbers", from 1 to 9, like a dialer. You will be able to memorize the digits of your combination. Finally, as the study points out, avoid starting your diagram from the four corners, and make the whole thing more complex.
Finally, take the time to clean your screen.
