The Android version of Google Contacts has a trash can. Accidentally deleting a phone number will no longer be a problem.
A clean and tidy phone book has benefits. Its practical aspect is mainly put forward. Numbers can be grouped according to their importance or usefulness. The search for coordinates no longer becomes a constraint. The numbers are easy to find if needed. A well-organized contact list comes with frequent cleaning. This avoids cluttering the directory with contact details that are no longer used. However, we are not immune to mishandling during cleaning. You can accidentally delete a number that you still need.
Last year, Google Contacts introduced a trash can option to allow the recovery of deleted contact details. This feature was previously exclusive to the web version of Google's address book manager. It is currently being rolled out for the Android app.

No official announcement from Google
The web version of Google Contacts saves deleted contact details in an alternative list. These can then be restored as needed. However, the Recycle Bin does not keep permanently deleted contacts. They are kept for 30 days only. Contact details are permanently lost after this time. The feature was exclusive to the web app when it launched. It has been available for some time on the Android app, but no one is able to say when exactly.
The deployment of the feature on the Android version of Google Contacts has not been the subject of any announcement from the Mountain View company. However, comparing the old and current Contacts support page helps confirm the availability of the option for mobile devices. The Delete Contact section of the old support page had four dots that fit into four lines. On the new page, the section still has four points, but with more substantial text. The operation of the recycle bin is detailed there.
The trash of the Android version of Google Contacts uses the same terms as that of the web version. The user can delete a number and recover it from the trash within 30 days. A manual command can also permanently delete contacts in the trash.

Google Contacts is gaining interest
Android smartphone users do not always have the instinct to install Google Contacts. Many are content with the native application preinstalled on the terminals. However, it does not have the trash option. Contact deletions are thus final if the data is not stored in the cloud. Google's Address Book Manager offers an integrated and convenient solution.
This new feature is sure to boost Contacts downloads in the Android app store.
