Disney+ has been available since April 7, 2020 in France. How to install the application on a Samsung connected TV and how to subscribe?
[Updated February 16, 2021] Disney, Star Wars, Marvel... Fans of these universes already had something to rejoice with Disney+, available in France, since spring 2020. The key: a streaming service allowing to watch unlimited cartoons, films, series and documentaries. And this on all media hosting the application, including Samsung Smart TVs.
And this content has been further enriched with the arrival of the STAR section since February 23, 2021. This brings together more than 1,000 new “adult” content from the 20th Century, ABC Studios, Searchlight, FX and Fox Television catalogs. Note that on this date, the price of the Disney + subscription increased: 8.99 euros per month instead of 6.99.

How to get the Disney+ app on Samsung Smart TV?
Samsung connected TVs equipped with its in-house operating system, Tizen, have integrated the Disney+ application since the launch of the service. To benefit from it, however, you must have a Samsung Smart TV compatible with Disney+. That is to say a television equipped with at least OS Tizen 2.4 and its later versions up to Tizen 5.5, detailed on this page. Concretely, this therefore requires a device belonging to the 2016 to 2020 ranges.
If you have a suitable TV model, all you have to do is search for Disney+ in the applications menu. Either by browsing the apps, or via the search function by entering the name of the service.
Disney+ subscription: not on TV, but online
“Owners of compatible Samsung Smart TVs will be able to register directly on their television from April 7,” said the Korean manufacturer. However, once the Disney + application is activated, we realize that this is not the case. As the home screen indicates, you have to go to the Disney+ site to subscribe to the service. This is where you will need to create your account with an email address and password. It will then be a question of choosing your subscription formula.
Note an alternative to access the service on your Samsung connected TV: the MyCanal application. Several Canal+ offers include subscription to Disney+. Provided you are a subscriber, you will be able to access the programs of the American platform from the app of the encrypted channel. As with Netflix, however, the viewing of content will be done in the Disney + application.
Two pricing plans and a free trial
On Samsung connected TV as on other platforms, the price of Disney+ is the same. Two formulas are offered: monthly, at 8.99 euros (without commitment), or the annual version, more economical, at 89.99 euros.
When the service was launched, invoicing only started after a period of 7 days. The first week, Disney+ was indeed free to try, but the platform ended this introductory offer on June 19, 2020.
After subscription: the verification code
Once these operations have been carried out, all you have to do is identify yourself on your connected TV with your email address and password.
You can then watch Disney+ programs on your Samsung Smart TV. Be careful though: you still have one step to take. The validation of your subscription generates the sending to your email address of a six-digit verification code. You will need to enter this code on your television in order to validate the use of your Disney+ offer on this screen. Please note, it is only valid for 15 minutes, after which part of the operation may have to be started again - we confess that we have not tempted fate...
Although we really want to enter these numbers with the numeric keys of the remote control, we must proceed differently. You must actually press the validation key to open a numeric keypad on the screen, which will allow you to enter the verification code.
Can I watch Disney+ on screens other than my Samsung TV?
Whatever your device, the Disney+ subscription allows you to enjoy its programs on 4 screens (and download unlimited on 10 different devices). Watching on your Samsung connected TV and on three other terminals can even be done simultaneously, which will allow the whole family to watch Disney cartoons, films from the Star Wars universe or Marvel blockbusters on different devices.
A priori, nothing prevents for the moment to share his account with relatives via one of the 7 profiles authorized on each subscription. A possibility that the American firm had not excluded, while reserving the right to take action if the abuses proved to be too serious...
My Samsung Smart TV is not compatible with Disney+: all is not lost
If your Samsung connected TV model does not natively integrate the application, you still have an alternative to still enjoy Disney+ content on your TV. If the latter supports the "screen mirroring" feature, this will allow you to project the screen of your computer or smartphone onto the television screen. However, the image quality may leave something to be desired and you may prefer a wired connection via an HDMI cable (computer) or micro-HDMI cable (smartphone or tablet), guaranteeing a more stable distribution of Disney+ programs on your TV .
