Galaxy Z flip 3, a real improvement on its predecessor

So let's start with the technical data sheet. The Galaxy flip 3 is undeniably a powerful smartphone, thanks to its Snapdragon 888 processor, the best on the market. This soc allows it to be compatible with the 5 G, a real asset while the standard tends to democratize. The latter comes with 8GB of RAM, a performance similar to the first model. The whole thing is powered by a 3300 mAh battery that promises many hours of autonomy.

The Galaxy Z flip 3 has a 6.7 "AMOLED main screen with a resolution of 2640 x 1080 pixels. Its cooling rate is 120 Hz. Samsung has greatly improved its strength, up to 80% more than its predecessor, according to the manufacturer. Another important upgrade: the smartphone benefits from IPX8 certification, making it the first waterproof foldable. Finally, it makes it possible to combine SIM and eSIM cards. The only breach of the call is that there will be no charger in the box.

Let's not forget the photo, another highlight of Samsung phones. For selfies, users will use a 10 MP front sensor. On the other side, they will find an ultra wide angle sensor of 12 MP, as well as a large angle sensor of 12 MP as well. Just like the screen, they are protected by Gorilla glass, which gives them optimum resistance. In addition, the overall repairable index of the smartphone is 7.6.

A bold design for a larger secondary screen

Again, the numerous leaks left very little room for doubt about the design of the Galaxy Z flip 3. Samsung modified some elements to soften the feature of the smartphone, such as more rounded corners than the previous version and a real work on the reflections of the hull. The whole thing gives a very pleasant look in hand, both fine in open mode and compact when folded. The great novelty is the presence of a wide black band at the back of the smartphone, which hosts both the two photo sensors and the secondary screen. The latter is bright, while the rest of the hull approaches a matt tone.

This design allows the secondary screen to rework deeply, with a size of 1.9 ", which is four times larger than the old one. In this way, it becomes a real tool of everyday life. By default, it displays the time. By swirling to the right, it gives a look at the latest notifications, which can be displayed in detail. When swipping to the left, it shows widgets in use, such as Spotify. A "open application" button allows you to directly access the source of the notification as soon as the screen opens. Finally, the user will be able to customize the screen at will by changing the background, the appearance of the clock, etc.

The Galaxy Z flip 3 is available in four colours: Phantom Black, green, lavender and cream. Three other colours are available exclusively on the Samsung website, namely pink, white and grey. The good news is that the Korean company has indeed lowered the price of the smartphone, not just a little. The latter will be released on August 27, 2021 at €1059 for its 128GB version and €1109 for its 256GB version.
