Google Assistant no longer needs a “Ok Google” to work in some cases. On a 3xl pixel running under the Beta of Android 12, some voice commands now operating without the user being forced to challenge the smart assistant. L'option devrait débarquer sur d'autres smartphones dans les semaines à venir.
Remember: in April 2021, an option allowing to do without the “Ok Google” command appeared in the source code of the Google Assistant.A few weeks ago, the functionality reappeared in the Android application code dedicated to the voice assistant. We discovered the list of commands capable of working without the user having to pronounce “Ok Google” or “Hey Google”.
Among the orders compatible with the option, we find “cancel the alarm”, “what time is it?”, “What time does he do?”, “Put music on pause”, or “create a reminder».You will understand: these are only basic daily orders.
Google Assistant can do without a “Ok Google” in two specific cases for the moment
According to the findings of our colleagues from XDA Developers, this functionality entitled “Quick Phrases” in VO is already available on certain smartphones. The media has indeed managed to use the option on a 3 XL pixel running under the latest beta version of Android 12.The phone used version 12.39.17.29 of the Google application.
In the final version, the option pushes the Google Assistant to tighten the ear as soon as you receive a call on your smartphone or a timer/ alarm sounds. The voice assistant will thus be able to react automatically from the user pronounces words as “answer” or “refuse” or “stop” or “snooze”.There will be no need to invoke the assistant with the famous “Ok Google” in these cases.Google will remind you that the order is no longer essential through a small notification under that of the call or alarm.
If the option is offered on your phone on Android 12, it should be possible to configure it directly in the Google application settings.According to XDA, this is a deployment limited to a handful of phones directly from Google servers. We can expect the option to be offered in the coming weeks when deploying Android 12.We keep you informed of the arrival of this very practical feature.
