On August 11, Samsung presented its two latest high-end folding smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3, with great fanfare. Contrary to its habits, however, it seems that its summer conference is not the last of this year. Samsung has indeed published an invitation, this Wednesday, for a new Galaxy Unpacked conference next week.
To go furtherWhat is the best Samsung smartphone to buy in 2022?
The week is already shaping up to be quite busy. After the announcement of an Apple keynote on Monday October 18, followed by a Made by Google conference on Tuesday October 19, Samsung will therefore hold a Galaxy Unpacked presentation on Wednesday October 20.
The invitation is rather sparse in detail and only allows you to discover a cube with faces of different colors. However, we can see some Samsung application icons such as the camera, SmartThings or the video player. This suggests that next week's conference should focus on Samsung smartphones - as the name "Galaxy" in Galaxy Unpacked Part 2 indicates. It could also be that Samsung is using the conference to highlight its ecosystem. connected home, with a potential new Galaxy Home speaker.
The expected Samsung Galaxy S21 FE
But the most anticipated lead seems to be a new Galaxy S21 FE smartphone. It was during the fall that the Korean firm had already launched on Galaxy S20 FE last year. While there were some rumors that the Galaxy S21 FE launch was canceled due to component shortages, then it looks like the launch was only pushed back in the end.
As a reminder, the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE should take over the main characteristics of the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE, but with some compromises to offer a more affordable price. The smartphone could thus be equipped with a Snapdragon 888 chip and a Full HD Amoled screen clocked at 120 Hz, but would not benefit from a 64 megapixel photo sensor or the ability to record in 8K.
Among the other announcements expected for this Wednesday, October 20, we can also mention several foldable smartphones. It seems that Samsung is not done with this smartphone format for this year. Last year, the Korean site The Elec indicated that the manufacturer would prepare nothing less than five foldable smartphones for 2021. In addition to the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3, we can therefore expect even more affordable models. On this point, however, it is a simple assumption, no recent leak having reported an upcoming announcement of these smartphones.
We should know more about what's new from Samsung by next week. As a reminder, the Galaxy Unpacked Part 2 conference will take place on Wednesday, October 20.
