3Expected for the beginning of 2022, the Samsung Galaxy S22 could be equipped with the same chip on all markets. A change of strategy that challenges.

Besides their design, which shouldn't change much, one of the most persistent issues concerns the SoC used. Traditionally, the Korean giant uses Qualcomm chips to equip the Galaxy S marketed in the United States. The rest of the market, on the other hand, is entitled to an equivalent stamped Exynos and developed by Samsung in-house. Against all odds, this balance could well turn in favor of Qualcomm for the brand's next generation of smartphones.
In any case, this is what we can learn from Super Roader, an ex-Samsung employee turned youtuber. According to him, the manufacturer could only opt for the next Snapdragon 898 on all Galaxy S22s, instead of the Exynos 2200, which is very promising. Indeed, the chipset would be based on the latest RDNA 2 architecture from AMD, and would be compatible with raytracing. What bring a real change in the field of video games.
At a time when more and more brands are embarking on the production of their own chips, this choice seems strange. It could be explained in particular by the semiconductor crisis, which is brutally affecting Korea. Samsung would therefore be afraid of not being able to supply enough markets. This is also the main reason given to explain the delayed release of the Galaxy S21 FE.
Given the expectations around this SoC, the disappointment would be great if this were the case, especially in South Korea, the firm's cradle. However, this information must be taken with a grain of salt, since such rumors had also been formulated for the Galaxy S21. But not so insistently.
A technical sheet at the level
Unsurprisingly, the different models should hold their rank in terms of technical sheets. The LetsGoDigital site specifies that the Galaxy S22 and S22+ would offer 6.1 and 6.6 inch Amoled panels. The configuration in the photo would be similar. We would thus be entitled to a wide-angle of 50 Mpx, an ultra wide-angle of 12 Mpx, but also a telephoto lens of 10 Mpx. This last module would therefore represent one of the main innovations for the standard models.
The Galaxy S22 Ultra would stand out quite clearly from the rest, taking inspiration from the Galaxy Note range. The device would notably offer a compartment for the S Pen and a more square design than the other two. It would opt for a 6.8-inch panel with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a higher peak light than before.
Concerning the photo, the S22 Ultra would carry a quadruple module consisting of a 108 Mpx wide-angle, a 12 Mpx ultra wide-angle as well as two 10 Mpx telephoto lenses with 3x and 10x optical zoom. Everything must obviously work under Android 12 and the latest OneUI 4 overlay, recently presented by Samsung.
A presentation in February?
The leaker also confirms previous rumors announcing a Galaxy Unpacked event on February 8th. According to him, the pre-order period will begin just after the formalization of the three smartphones, which would be released on February 18. Samsung would take advantage of MWC 2022 (scheduled for February 28) to expose them to the public.
