Alchimy.info editors received Samsung's latest tablet, the Galaxy Tab S7 FE 5G. This equipment has been designed for users who want to have a versatile multimedia combo with Android on board. We tested it to see how it performs with movies, games, remote work and education.
But before talking about its multimedia talents, let's take a look at its specifications for a moment. The model that arrived in our hands has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of data storage, while the most popular models sold in our market are equipped with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Despite slightly lower settings, our Galaxy Tab S7 FE 5G handles most applications quite efficiently, thanks in part to a relatively powerful Qualcomm processor from the Snapdragon line. To improve working comfort, however, it is useful to disable unnecessary applications running in the background, so that they do not slow down the device unnecessarily.
What immediately strikes the eye after unboxing the device is the high quality of its manufacture. Although we are dealing with a slimmed down model of the classic Galaxy Tab S7, the designers have opted for a premium finish. The aluminum casing is beautiful and the edges of the screen are a perfect size. In addition, we find in the box a stylus, which will facilitate the entry of handwritten notes. The budget cuts we can find, among other things, in the absence of a fingerprint reader in the power button, which is available on the Galaxy Tab S7.
The biggest advantage of the Galaxy Tab S7 FE 5G, on the other hand, might just be its size: the large 12.4-inch screen is just fine for watching movies, gaming and browsing the internet. That is, all those activities that, in the era of the popularization of remote work and learning, have gained prominence among a wide audience.
In summary :
Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE 5G in the land of multimedia
The big screen is just one of the features that make the Galaxy Tab S7 FE 5G a great rig for movie buffs. The panel operates at a relatively high peak brightness, so will prove to be a very handy travel cinema. Even if we organize a projection on a sunny day, the screen will be perfectly readable. There are also stereo speakers that support the Dolby Atmos surround sound system, which was developed in cooperation with AKG experts. Despite their small size, they can produce clear and crisp sound. It's just a shame that the mini jack was omitted, so only wireless headphones will work.
Powering all components is provided by a battery with a capacity of 10090 mAh, which will allow the equipment not to run out of energy at the least convenient time. This means that binge-watchers will be able to spend up to 8-10 hours in front of the Galaxy Tab S7 FE 5G before the system reminds them to charge the battery. The tablet also supports 45W fast charging technology, but you'll need to purchase that separately. Along with the tablet, you will receive a basic 15W charger.
Although the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE 5G does not have such powerful components as the models of the Galaxy Tab S7 series or the high-end Galaxy S21 smartphones, it is perfectly suited for the gaming environment. The manufacturer offers us the Game Booster mode, which optimizes the work of the processor and the graphics system to support the most demanding titles. The software monitors device temperature and memory consumption and will also help you start recording games quickly and efficiently.
However, game overlay isn't all that gamers interested in this hardware can count on. Although the Galaxy Tab S7 FE 5G is not a direct competitor to consoles and gaming PCs, it can compete with them indirectly thanks to the presence of a WiFi6 module. With its help, the tablet will allow you to fully exploit the potential of cloud gaming services. Streamed games on the Galaxy Tab S7 FE 5G are very smooth, and the signal lag is quite acceptable. To operate some of them, we won't even need an external gamepad, since the virtual gamepad will completely replace it in racing or adventure games.
The tablet can prove to be an interesting alternative to games launched in native mode. The cloud will allow us to access dozens of AAA class titles, which until recently remained beyond the reach of mobile device users, and a large screen combined with a good sound system will provide an exceptional audiovisual experience.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE 5G – ready for remote communication
The tablet can prove equally useful in the hands of anyone looking for a tool to study or perform simple work in remote mode. After launching DeX mode, the graphical overlay of the Galaxy Tab S7 FE 5G will resemble that of a regular PC operating system.
Just pair a keyboard and plug in a mouse to turn the tablet into a fully functional laptop. In this mode, the Galaxy Tab S7 FE 5G will allow you to easily work with text using multiple applications on a single screen or making video calls. The front camera has been placed on the longer edge of the screen for good reason: that's where it works best for video calls, as it captures your face from the most favorable angle.
The included stylus can be useful in live meetings. It lets you take handwritten notes on a wide variety of graphic media as well as take notes in handwriting recognition mode. This makes it easy to enter typed text, even when you don't have a physical keyboard.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE 5G obviously won't replace mainstream laptops, consoles, desktops or premium mobile devices, especially as the manufacturer had to make some compromises to bring the price of the device down to £2499 for the 4/64GB model and at £2799 for the 6/128GB model. A single main camera, a screen with a maximum refresh rate of 60Hz or the absence of a fingerprint reader prove that we are dealing here with a device aimed at slightly less demanding users.
Despite these discounts, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE 5G will be an attractive proposition for anyone looking for a versatile multimedia device. A decent processor, a large screen, good speakers and the presence of the WiFi 6 wireless communication module make it a universal tool for watching movies, playing titles on mobile, console and PC and communicating remotely, this which we have been using more and more in recent months.
