SmartThings Find is currently available on Samsung Galaxy devices on a global scale after the service has been tested by 6 million users in South Korea, the United States and Great Britain for about two months, saidthe company.
The South Korean technological giant will update the service on galaxy smartphones and tablets running under the Android 8 operating system and the Galaxy Watch smart watches with Tizen 5.5 and the Galaxy Buds Plus wireless headphones and Galaxy Buds Live.
The application incorporates low-consumption (BLU) and ultra-Large band (UWB) Bluetooth technologies to help users find their Galaxy products.
Samsung said the service allows users to find their lost devices even if they are offline.
"Once a device is disconnected for 30 minutes, it emits a ble signal which can be received by other devices," said the company."If you declare that you have lost your device via SmartThings Find, any other smartphone or Galaxy tablet nearby which has opted to help find the lost devices can alert the Samsung server on its rental, which will then notify you."
The service also provides sound directions and alerts so that users can quickly find a lost device.
"Once you are near your device, you can" ring "your device or locate it with a augmented reality based research function which gives colorful indications whose intensity increases when you approach your device", added Samsung.
"We are happy to work so closely with the main companies in the field both to enrich this experience and allow you to find more business," said Jung Jae-Yeon, who heads the Smart Things team at Samsung.
