4x growth year over year, and it sold more in a month than all of last year.
According to Samsung, this latest generation of foldables is selling well. No, the company still isn't sharing specific sales metrics, but it has lost a handful of relative numbers. We already knew that Samsung's pre-orders for these new Third-generation foldable phones had been beating sales year-to-date for its previous models, but that success apparently continues. In the first month of sales alone, Samsung claims to have sold more of these new foldables than all of its phones foldables in 2020, and it's now shipped four times as many foldables in 2021 as it did in 2022.
Samsung points out that the 4x gain actually exceeds some analysts' expectations, although it's not quite an apples-to-apples comparison. foldables would grow 3x in 2021. Either the overall market grew faster than expected (to be fair, powered by Samsung), or Samsung's already massive slice of the pie grew, or both. The distinction is admittedly a bit insignificant given that Samsung encompasses a large part of the market.

Analyst estimates for Samsung's direct market share in the foldable space range from 85% to 93% for the year, but even when Samsung loses, it wins: it also has 95% of the market for foldable screens locked.
As AP's Jules Wang pointed out in previous coverage, our readers also seem more interested in these new phones. Sample size is small, but more of you have pre-ordered both new devices than expected. Early carrier sales indicators in South Korea were also positive indicators, and the general sentiment, even among Android police personnel, is positive: at least two of us outright bought the new Fold3. Precise numbers or not, Samsung's new foldables are doing just fine.
