The "communities" functionality would be aimed at giving more powers to the administrators of a group via a system close to what Discord does by letting its users create several salons within the same server.Here, WhatsApp would allow administrators to create a subgroup in an already existing group conversation.They could then invite users and users to these more limited discussion spaces via a single invitation link or by QR code.Participants could however not be able to post directly messages once the subgroup has joined since the functionality would allow administrators to configure their communities as they understand thanks to various parameters.

According to the first visuals shared by Wabetainfo, the "communities" will distinguish themselves from other conversations thanks to a rounded edge icon.WhatsApp had also mistakenly revealed this square to the mild corners last October by deploying it on profile photos, before removing them immediately.

The "communities" being still in development, more concrete details on their functioning are always waiting.The functionality should however make it possible to better organize discussion groups which approach several subjects at the same time, like a school group which would like to divide the conversation into several subgroups according to the courses or the projects discussed.

The new features being tested in beta versions several months before their deployment with the general public, it will still be necessary to show a little patience before the "communities" are officially deployed.
