Samsung has just updated its Find My Mobile application, which allows you to locate a galaxy smartphone remotely, save your data on Samsung Cloud, delete local data or remove access to Samsung Pay.This is a very practical tool if you have just lost or steal your mobile.Previously, the application required a network connection to operate.New: the device can now be located, even if it is offline.

A community research network

In its new version (n ° 7.2.05.44), the South Korean firm adds an offline search feature to its application, which was spotted on Twitter by Max Weinbach of XDA-Developers.Concretely, Samsung is based on a research network formed by all Galaxy devices located nearby to help you find the lost or stolen mobile, when it cannot be located thanks to Wi-Fi or a connectionof data.This also means that your mobile can be used by the application to search for other smartphones of this type.

The application can also help you find watches or galaxy headphones connected from the lost device.Note that it is possible to encrypt the location of your mobile for better protection of your personal data.

An update during deployment?

To use it, a notification is sent to owners of Samsung Galaxy, which invites us to update the Find My Mobile application.Then just press the notification to open the settings page and activate the new search feature in offline mode.This feature is reminiscent of the Apple location (or find my iPhone) application, which is available in offline mode from the release of iOS 13.

No information has yet been communicated on the official launch of this global functionality.It would only be available for the moment in the United States and South Korea.
